NEW MISSION VESSEL

MILK FOR CHRISTENING. JOHN WILLIAMS HONOURED. . LONDON, April 30. Cocoannt milk instead of champagne will be used by Lady Carmichael to christen the London Missionary Society's new three-masted schooner, which will be launched to-morrow. It is the fifth boat named after John Williams, the pioneer missionary who was murdered by cannibals in the New Hebrides in 1839. The cost of construction will be borne by the children of the Congregational churches in Britain, As many of the society’s stations are served by Australian vessels, the society is reverting to a sailing ship, in the interests of economy.
