NORTH OTAGO RUGBY UNION. The weekly meeting of the North Otago Rugby Union was held last night. Mr 5. B. Stevenson presided over a full attendance of members. The action of the secretary in supplying footballs to the Awamoko and Five Forks Schools on the usual terms was approved. Transfers were granted to J. Wesley from Wairaate Old Boys to Oamaru Old Boys; E. Hollands and H. Carrington, Athletic Senior to Junior; and J. Kinder and C, Baird, Old Boys Senior to Junior. An application for a transfer by J. Orowlowski from Weston Pirates to Athletic was declined, as he is still a member of the Excelsior Club. The Maheno > Club forwarded £1 Is annual subscription to the union, and £1 Is contribution towards the Wise Memorial Shield. A letter from the Otago Union in connection with the booking of seats for the test match was held over for a week. The New Zealand Union forwarded f 8 for the expenses of the delegate to the annual conference. The Waitaki Sub-union wrote accepting June 3 as the date for the Town v. Country match at Oamaru. The application for reinstatement of W. Clelland was deferred until word in connection with the form of application was received from the New Zealand Union. The South Canterbury Union advised that a trial match would be held at Temnka on June 12 in connection with the selection of the combined team to play the British team.—Mr Palmer reported that the other selectors would be at Ashburton on June 3 for the Ashburton v. University match, and that they would be in Oamaru on June 7. —The trial match at Temuka was confirmed. Messrs Mollison, Atkinson, and Whitcombe reported on the deputation to the Agricultural and Pastoral Association in connection with installing electric light at the Oval, and that an offer had been . made to extend the lease for 10 years, the first five years at £6O and the second five years at £7o.—The matter was held over until further particulars of the cost of the installation of the light were re- ' ceived. The treasurer reported that the gate on Saturday amounted to £ll 7s 6d. The selectors reported that Malcolm’s name was the first on the list for nomination for the South Island trial match, but he was not nominated because he was not available. RAILAGE OF STOCK. The trucking and railage of 3500 hill wethers on account of Messrs Dalgety and _ Co. from Kurow _to Mossburn was carried out by the Railways Department expeditiously on Sunday at a time when some difficulty is, being experienced in obtaining trucks. The department furnished _ an engine to facilitate loading operations at Kurow on Sunday, and the special train of 45 trucks left Kurow at 4 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, reaching its_ destination before noon yesterday. ST. PAUL’S CHURCH. The re-alating of the roof of St. Paul's Church has now been completed, and, after an interval of seven weeks, during ’ which services have been held in the hall, worship was resumed yesterday in the church. This month is church rally mouth, and there were large congregations at both the morning and evening services. The services at St. Paul’s on May 25 will be takn by th Rev. J, Lawson Robinson, 8.A., of St. Andrew’s, Christchurch, while on that date the Rev. A. B. Kilroy will take the services at St. Andrew’s, Christchurch. NORTH OTAGO HOCKEY REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION. There was a large attendance of members of the North Otago Hockey Referees’ Association at a special meeting held in Mr Barsdell’s room. Mr A. C. Kay ocoupi?d the chair. The resignation of Mr J. Hill-Scully as president was received and accepted with regret. It was resolved to write Mr Hill-Scully thanking him for the services h e had rendered to the association. Mr Stringer tendered his resignation as secretary and treasurer, which was accepted with regret. Mr H. Thomas was elected an active .member, and Mr J. Harris an honorary member of the association.
