STRATH-TAIERI COLLIE CLUB
ANNUAL TRIALS. The Strath-Taieri Collie Club’s twentyfourth annual trials were held on Mr A. M'Kinnon’s (“Robertslee”) property on April 15. 16, and 17. Competitors came from as far as Mount Somers in the north and Ciifden in the south., The first day was marred fo a certain extent bjr n strong wind, but, the rest of the meeting was held under idea conditions. Mr DMatheson, of Shag Valley, acted as judge,, and his decisions gave every satisfaction. In his remarks at the end of the trials he complimented the compeitors on the high standard of work shown throughout the meeting, especially in the Open Huntaway, saying that in all his years of experience, both sc a competitor And judge, he had never seen such excellent work in this class. Sixteen out of the: 22 dogs completed the course m good style, very little separating, the four placed dogs, 'while several tied for fifth and sixth places. • The following are the results:— , Class I, Maiden Huntaway. Total points 62. Nineteen entries—Mr A. Matheson, sen/s Matt, 49 points, 1; Mr >V. P. Ross’s Don, 47 points, 2; Mr M. A. Matheson’s Tyke, 45, points, 3; Mr C. Paterson’s Bob, 43 points, 4. Class 11. Open Huntaway. Total points 62. Twenty-two entries—Mr I. Golightly’s Nig, 50 points, 1; Mr LRawcliffo's Pan, 491 points, 2; Mr W. PRoss’s Don, 49 points, 3; Mr lan Kosss Jack, 48 points, 4. , Class 111, Double Event, Heading and Huntaway. Total points 80. Sixteen entries.—Mr A. T. Miller s Kip and Snub, 75 points, 1: Mr E. Carr’s Pride and Don. 08 points, 2; Mr C. Smith’s Chance and Burke 67 points. 3; Mr M. A. Matheson s Tweed and Tyke, 66 points, 4. Class IV, Maiden Heading. Total points 50. Twenty-three entries—-Mr JCrutchley'e Moss, 47 points, 1; Mr A* Matheson, sen/s Moss, 46, points, 2; Mr C. Smith’s Chance, 45 points, 3; Mr J. Heffernan’s Spot, 44 points, 4. . Class V, Open Heading. Total point* 54. Twenty-sis entries—Mr A. T. Miller’s Runt, 51 points, 1; Mr J., Rawchffe s Mack, 50 points, 2; Mr A. Matheson, sen/s Moss, 48 points, ,3; Mr M. A. Matheson’s Tweed, 47 points, 4. The various cups were won by the following:—Conn’s Cup for winner of Open Huntaway, Mr F. Goliglitly; Teacher’s Cup, for winner of Double Event, Mr A. T. Miller; Mr W. Moynihan’s trophy, for winner in Open Heading, Mr A. T. Miller; Tradesman’s Cup, for dog gaining most points in heading events, Mr A. Matheson, sen.; -Club Cup, for best team of three dogs in classes 11, IV, V, Mr M. A, Matheson.
