HOSPITAL BOARD.

. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Otago Hospital Board was held on Thursday night. The chairman (Mr W. E. S. Knight) presided. Other members present were Mrs W. Ross, Mrs Marshall Macdonald, Messrs A. F. Quelch, J. W. Dove, J. W. Scnrr, D. MLennan, W. B. Morgan, and Dr W. Newlands, BENEVOLENT COMMITTEE. During the discussion on the Benevolent Committee’s report, Mr Dove took exception to a clause dealing with a conference with officers of the City Council in regard to the filling in of the grounds at the Talboys’ Home, and the widening of Alexander street. He stated that the board Was giving an advantage to the city at the expense of the who.le of the Hospital district. He strongly objected to the method suggested for the filling in of the ground. What was going to happen as far as the houses in Josephine street were concerned? There would be complaints from the residents and the inmates. There had been a tip in St. Kilda approved of by the Health Department, and it had been infested with rats. He wished to have his vote recorded against the motion, and he would also give notice of motion that the clause be rescinded. The report was adopted. OTHER REPORTS. The reports of the other committees were adopted without discussion.
