LADIES’ SINGLES. CHAMPION" OP CHAMPIONS’ CONTEST. The annual Ladies’ Champion of Champions’ Singles Competition was commenced on. the Caledonian green yesterday morning, and although a fresh southwesterly breeze hampered the players considerably in the morning, it died down towards midday, with the result that conditions for the afternoon’s play were ideal. The green was in perfect order, and considerable interest was added to the contest by the J fact that visiting bowlers from Roxburgh, Naeeby, Balchitha, and Awamoa, were competing. Prior to the commencement of the games, the president of the Ladies’ Bowling Association. Mrs Wallace, extended a welcome to the visitors, and expressed the hope that everyone would enjoy the contest under the best possible conditions. ,• M'Tigue welcomed the players on behalf of the Caledonian Bowling Club, aud expressed pleasure that so many entries had come forward, and at seeing so many spectators present.
