THE SOUTH ISLAND .MATCH. The visit of the Australians to Dunedin next week will mark the official opening of the' association’s new courts at Logan Park, and the occasion will, therefore, be invested with an important dual significance. The match allotted to this centre is that between the visitors and a. South Jsland team, and it should .pro- ' vide the spectators with a very thrilling and; spectacular exhibition of the game, ' Few finer players than Kalins have been seen fn Dunedin, and his team mates, « Sproule, Teague, and Donohue, are all in V the forefront of the game on the "other side. Against this notable combination will be pitted Angas (the New Zealand champion), T. Rhodes-Williams (a very stylish player, who has shown g-od form this seasonl, D. F. GlanvilJe. of Christchurch, and S. G. M’Dougall, the Otago champion. This material should be capable of staging a memorable series of matches, both doubles and singles. The arrangements for the contest are well advanced, and fine weather alone is required to ensure a very large attendance. LADDER .MATCHES. On Wednesday night Jensen and Phillips gained fourth place on the provincial mens doubles ladder by defeating Bray and Duthie. 6—4.-6—4. . M/Dougall regained third place on the singles ladder last night when he defeated Boddy, 6—4, 6—l.
