RAVENSBOURNE BOATING CLUB
BOWIE CUP RACE. The Ravensbourne Boating Club sailed the race for the Bowie Cup on Saturday afternoon, when the following boats started:—Shadow, Minnow, Eileen, Vivian, Frolic, and Lassie. A good south-east wind was blowing at the start, but calmed down later on. In the beat up to the Three Legs, Shadow led Minnow, with Eileen close up. Shadow rounded the Three Legs with Minnow a minute and a-half behind, and Eileen a minute further back, Frolic and Lassie having dropped astern. On the run to Challis’s buoy Shadow increased her lead, and Minnow becoming becalmed, Eileen passed lion Shadow rounded the buoy about five minutes ahead of Eileen, and maintained her lead to the finish, with Eileen about seven minutes behind’ Result:—
