A FRACTURED SKULL. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 2. .Through striking a telegraph pole in Broadway, Newmarket, last evening, a motor cyclist, W. M. Nicholson, of Highwick avenue, Epsom, was throwr to the roadway, receiving a fractured skull and -a fractured wrist. He was taken in an unconscious condition to the hospital, ancUhad not regained consciousness this afternoon. He is a married man, cmployed by the New Zealand railways as an enginedriver. BUS COLLIDES WITH POST, (Per United Press Association.) WANGANUI, March 1. Five girls seated in front of a 12-seater bus su&ered abrasions when the vehicle collided with a telegraph post at Gonville about midnight on Saturday. One of them, L. Hawkes, aged 14 years, was removed to the hospital, but her condition to-day was satisfactory. The bus was" returning passengers to Castleclifi from a danfce. MAN’S SKELETON FOUND. (Per United Press Association.) FEILDING, March 1. In July, 1026, James Rampton, employed on A. S. Brown’s farm, disappeared. Yesterday hia skeleton was found i» some scrub on the farm. There was nothing to show the cause of death. WAIMAKARIRI DROWNING FATALITY. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 1. Both bodies of the victims of the drowning tragedy at the mouth of the Waimakinri last Sunday night were found during the week-end. The body of Mr Hurtle JJ isher was found yesterday on the Waimain beach, and John JM/Lenaghan's body was washed up this morning on the Spit at the month of the Waimakiriri, POWER BOARD ENGINEER INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) w _ CAMBRIDGE, March 1. ■, Herbert C. Oaten, aged 37, a married engineer employed by the Cambridge Power Board, had a narrow escape* from being electrocuted in the early hours of this moniing while working on alterations to the Leamington sub-station. He was up on a short ladder when his head came into contact with the 3000-volt line Oaten was flung into the air and fell on the concrete floor of the station, unconscious. After a doctor had rendered first aid, he was taken home, and did not regain consciousness until eight hours later. He suffered severe burns to the back of his head; also the fingers of his left hand were slightly burnt, and his back injured . y the fall. In the circumstances, he had a close call. BODY FOUND IN CREEK, (Per United Press Association.) . .
