SOVIET CONSULATE

NO REQUEST FROM AUSTRALIA. PRESS STATEMENT DENIED. ; x (Unltefl Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, February 26. Although Australia has made no request for a Soviet consul in Australia the Soviet apparently considers that it has already concluded an agreement with Australia. The Communist organ Humanite, published in Paris, coritains the following statement from the Soviet news agency at Moscow: “Australia has agreed to establish a Soviet consulate, having definitely accepted, through Mr Henderson, with whom the Soviet negotiated.” The Foreign Office categorically denies this. It says that Australia did not request a consul, and there will he no consuls to the dominions unless the latter request them.
