A GALLANT RESCUE.
MISS EILA MUNRO’S BRAVERY. RECOGNISED BY DEVONPORT COUNCIL. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND. February 27., The bravery of Miss Eila Munro, of Devonport, in rescuing three persons from drowning at Muriwai Beach on Sunday is being officially recognised by the Devo.nport Borough Council. At a meeting Of the council Mr W. Cassells Brown said that such an outstanding act of heroism should not pass unnoticed by the citizens. He suggested the forwarding of a letter signed by all the members of the council as a mark of appreciation of the borough The deputy-mayor (Mr J. Hislop) said he thought the act of bravery should appeal to all citizens. He would have pleasure in presenting through the council a , cup to the North Shore Amateur Swimming Club. The cup would be known as the Munro Cup, and would be used in competition bv the club, which would be invited to arrange an annual race for girls about the age of Miss Munro, 18 years. ,
