TAIERI MOUTH AMENITIES SOCIETY.

Therei was a large attendance at a meeting of the Taieri Mouth Amenities Society held iu Dunedin yesterday. Mr VV. R. Brugh occupied the chair. Reference was made to the continued illuess of the secretary (Mr John Moroney), and an assistant secretary was appointed in the meantime. The treasurer (Mr G. 11. Thompson, Milton) submitted a financial statement showing the payments made for the work carried out recently on the domain. A letter was read from Mr T, Ball, the Highways Board’s representative on No. 17 District Highways Council, regarding the widening of the highway at Tmeri Mouth.—lt was decided to ask the Bruco County Council to do this work, on the basis suggested in the letter. The improvements to the Waihola Hill road were mentioned. As the Main South road at Titri was now more liable to flood than formerly, the Waihola road would serve ns -a connecting link with Dunedin in time of flood. It was decided to use every endeavour to have the road made suitable for all classes of traffic.

The supply of fireworks for use during the next holidays was left with Mr Moore.

It was resolved to recommend to the Domnin Board that shelter, trees be planted on the domain boundary, Mr H. W. Allan presented the society with a flag for hoisting on the playground at holiday time.—The gift was received with thanks.

It was reported to the meeting that certain objectionable refuse was being tipped at various parts on the seaside road, and it was resolved that a protest be made to the Bruce County Council, with a view to having the practice stopped.

A meeting of the Taieri Mouth Domain Board followed the first meeting. A number of accounts were passed for payment.

The meeting decided to make a charge of 2fls for picnic parties using the domain.

The board adopted the recommendation to plant shelter trees, and Messrs Henry. Merrilocs, and M'Cormack were entrusted with the carrying out of the work. The procuring of an additional area of bush on the north side of the river by the board was left in the hands of Mr W. R. Brugh.
