THE NEW WAR BOOK

ATTACK ON AUSTRALIANS. A WAVE OF RESENTMENT. (United Press Association.} (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 25. (Received Feb. 25, at 9 p.m.) The attac ky “ Ex-private X ” on the Australians in-his book, “War Is War,” is strongly resented by ex-soldiers in the Commonwealth. Generals Monash, Chauvel, Lloyd,, and Herring all deprecate overmuch notice being given to the diatribes of authors who skulk behind the cover of anonymity, and they declare that there has lately been an apparent campaign of contemptible scandal-monger-ing with the object of belittling Australian soldiers. They were not murderers and the best answer to the colunlnies was the fact that any English general was glad to have them under, him; and their finest reference of character was the way the French people received them.
