A FRIEND OF THE FARMER. i TRIBUTES BY BRITISH VISITORS. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, February 25. The wide practical knowledge of farming possessed by Lord Bledisloe, the new Governor-General of New Zealand, was referred to by leading members of the British farmers party which arrived from England to-day, “New Zealand is to be congratulated on acquiring its new Governor-General,” said Mr S. R. Whitley, who heads the delegation. “You are indeed fortunate in getting him, for he is the greatest agriculturist in England and the' friend of all the farmers. His heart is unquestionably in agriculture and his knowledge is both considerable and practicable. England’s loss is New Zealand’s gain,” Mr Whitlev added. “ You cannot give him too much agriculture. He just revels,in it.” Mr J, J, Cridlan, an eminent breeder of Aberdeen-Angus cattle, knows Lord Bledisloe very well. “He is extremely earnest where agriculture is concerned and'l should say that his knowledge will be of very great help to'this country,” he said.
