DEATH IN -HOSPITAL. (Per United Press Association,) AUCKLAND, February 25. The death occurred to-day of Mrs Barbara Davidson, who was , admitted to hospital on Friday suffering from a broken thigh, caused by • fall down steps. She was 92 years of age. A FATAL FALL. (Per United Press Association.) HAMILTON, February 25. While dismantling a derrick on the top of the power-house at Arapuni, Walter Richards (a half-caste Maori, aged 29) fell to the ground, a distance of 60ft, He landed on his head, and was killed instantaneously. No one witnessed the accident. Richards was a married man, with two children. He lived vt Arapuni. His parents reside at Hikutaia. BURIED BY FALL OF ROCK. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 25. The evidence shows that every neceseary precaution was taken for the safety of the men working in the tunnel," said the coroner (Mr T. Si M'Neil) at the inquest on Samuel Fleming, who died following- being injured when buried by a fall of rock at Tawa Flgt tunnel work at Ngahauranga on the night of February 13. Apparently, said the coroner, it was one of those accidents of which workers underground have to run the risk. The deceased died from pneumonia_ following injuries received from an accidental fall of rock. The deceased had no relatives in the Dominion. It is understood that his parents live in Ireland. DEATH FROM GUNSHOT WOUND (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 25. Arthur John _ Payne, aged 27, single, was found at his residence. Woolston, on Monday afternoon suffering from a gunshot wound in the head. . He died this morning in hospital. At the inquest today there was evidence that Payne had been despondent of late. Hie health broke down six months ago. The coroner found that death was due to a gunshot wound self-inflicted when in a depressed state of health. THE FISHING TRAGEDY. NO TRACE OP BODIES. ' (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 25. In spite of almost constant searching since the tragedy, no trace of the bodies of Messrs H. Fisher and J. MTLenaghan, who were drowned at Brooklands on Sunday evening, has been found. To-day, the Kaiapoi police patrolled the beach from daylight without result, while the Belfast police were searching pn the Brooklands side of the Waimakariri. Fisher was 53 years of age, not 37, as was telegraphed yesterday. It is now stated that he was a strong swimmer. ACCIDENT AT HILLSIDE. ' Suffering from a severely lacerated leg, received when he was run over by a travelling crane, William Douglas, single, 29 years of age, who is employed at the Hillside Workshops, was admitted to the Hospital at- 11 a.m. yesterday, when it was found that his injnries were so serious that'an amputation, was performed. His condition is reported to be fairly satisfactory.
