(Received Feb. 24, at 8 p.m.) The Paris correspondent of the Times says that while the Chautemps Govern ment will largely adopt M. Tardieu’s domestic policy, its exact programme must be awaited before estimating the chances of its surviving. The first meeting of the Chamber will be held on Tuesday. when there will certainly be a keen and the-Prime Minister desires a test in the evening.
■M. Chautemps cannot depend upon more than 221 votes out of 596, but if he gets Socialist support, amounting to 98 votes, he will be reasonably safe, though that party’s help is promised only in “ certain circumstances,” and the promise is not binding.
Meanwhile, the Opposition parties remain implacable. They consider M. Chantcmps’s overtures to the Socialists an insult to the nation.
The Prime Minister announces that Cabinet will continue the foreign policy of its predecessors, especially when the delegation refutes -from London.—Times Cable.
