RIFLE SHOOTING.

DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB. The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club held, a practice shoot on Saturday afternoon.' There was an attendance of 17. The conditions were: TO shots (two optional sighters) each at 300 yards, with sling and aperture, and 10 shots (twi optional' v sighters) each at 300 yards, service conditions (Bisjey targets). In the first shoot Rifleman R, A. Mackie headed the list with 44, counting out Rifleman W. A. Graham, also 44, For the second shoot Rifleman H. Potter was top with 44. Rifleman R. A. Mackie and H. Potter were thus the winners of the range prizes. The following are the highest scores:— Ist Shoot. 2nd Shoot. Sling and’ Service

KAITANGATA DEFENCE CLI/B. The Kaitangata Defence Club:fired the second stage of the third competition on Saturday, only six members being present; Again weather conditions wore against the riflemen, there being a bad light and a fishtail wind. H. M'Crostie with 31 and J. Frazer and R. Kitto (30 each) at 600 yards, were the only scorers of 30 or better at either raime. R. Kitto increased his lead for the Lee Cnp by one point. R, M'Cvostie improved his position by four point", and W. Oliver ’by one point. R. Kitto also improved his position for the ehampionship, now being with W. Oliver, 14 points behind J. H. Frazer, whose total stands at 542. As two or three members will compete at the N.R.A. meeting at Trentham, there will bo no match shooting locally until March 15. It is proposed to fire the final three-range match for the Cooke Cnp ‘on March 15. The ladies will fire the fourth stage of their cup match on that date also.
