APPOINTMENT OF CLERK. MR T. D. H. HALL SELECTED. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, February 22 ,011 the recommendation of Mr Speaker (Sir Charles Statham), Mr T. D, H Hall LL.:B.. barrister, of the Crown Law Drafi> ing Office, has been appointed to the position of clerk of the House of Representatiyeg rendered vacant by the recent appointment of Mr E. W, Kane as clerk of Parliament and clerk of the Legislative Council. Mr Hall was born in-Welling-ton in 1885, and is a well-known resident of Ngaio._ He received bis education at Wanganui College and Wellington College, where he won scholarships and exhibitions of a total value of £250, matriculating at Wellington College, where he also passed Ins junior civil service examination. Mr Hall graduated LL.B. of the New Zealand University at Victoria College in 1922, his studies having been interrupted by the Great War. _ After leaving college he joined the Railways Department at the beginning of 1901, and shortly afterwards he received an appointment as a cadet in the Department of Agriculture. On the re- - organisation of the department in 1909 Mr Hall was senior clerk. in which capae- ■* ity he was closely associated with the major administrative problems of the de- 4 partment. In December, 1915, he joined, the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and served in France. On his return in. 1919 he resumed- his position in the Agriculture Department, and had a good deal to do with its legal work. In June. 1921, Mr Hall was appointed assistant law draftsOne of bis special duties in that position has been to report and tender advice on all local Bills coming before the ' Local Bills Committee of the House b£ Representatives. Mr Hall is a member of the New Zealand branch of the Institute of Pacific Relations, a member of the Economic Society,- and a member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. He has contributed articles to “ New Zealand Affairs,” published in connection with the . Geneva Conference, and to “The Economic Records,” published in Melbourne.
