PRESENTATION TO VICTORS. HIGH PRAISE FOR AUCKLAND CREW. There was a large gathering of local a “ d visiting. yachtsmen and friends in the Council Chambers on Saturday evenwig, when the winners of the Cornwell Cup contest. Masters E. and R. Tabuteau, ot Auckland, were presented with the trophy. In making the presentation, the Deputy Mayor (Cr J. J. Clark) expressed regret that the Mayor, had been unable to attend. It had been the speaker’s privilege w> welcome the visiting yachtsmen and delegates on their arrival in Dunedin, and He had then expressed the hope that they would have an excellent contest and that the best crew would win. It was the unanimous opinion that the contest had been most enjoyable and that the best crew did win. There was no fluke about the Auckland boys’ win, which had been achieved by pure seamanship, and he was sure everyone would join with; him in congratulating the winners on their fine performance. It augured well for tire c^J 3 o£ J h f latest that the boys .were en t vr a * would come from-all parts of New Zealand to participate in the competition for the dup.
