Supreme Court, for breaking and entering the Hastings Railway Station, Joseph Coyle and Stanley Elliott ■were sentenced—the, former to three years hard labour and the latter to three years’ reformative detention. Edward I releaven, for forgery and uttering, received one year’s reformative detention. Ihe following prisoners were also sentenced; Thomas Roberts, for receiving stolen goods, two years’ reformative detention; Erematoa Tinui, indecent assault, probation for two years;■ and Edward .Patrick 1 Leahy, assault and robbery, sis months’ hard labour. _ . WELLINGTON, February 22. Roland Henry Whippey. aged 34, a salesman, who has been in the practice of issuing valueless cheques, was to-day sent to gaol for six, months on a charge in respect to £5 and fl. , BLENHEIM, February 22. - The Masonic Hotel, a large two-storev building, was burnt to the ground this afternoon. Two shops opnosite on a aide street? caught fire, aha the fronts were considerably damaged. The telegraph lines between Havelock and Nelson were brought down, also one of the power lines. -Men were hurriedly despatched to make repairs.
