THE FRENCH CRISIS

FORMATION OF MINISTRY. ATTEMPT BY RADICAL LEADER. {United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) • PARIS, February 20. The Radical leader (M. Ohantemps) has undertaken to attempt to form a Ministry. He ha» invited M. Tardieu to join the Cabinet and to retain the direction of the Naval Delegation. The latter reserved his reply. THE NEW MINISTRY. PERSONNEL ANNOUNCED. PARIS, February 21. (Received Feb. 21, at 9 p.m.) M. Ohantemps, after securing M. Briand’s assurance of co-operation, submitted his Ministry to President Dour mergue as follows: —. M. Ohantemps, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. / M. Briand, Minister of Foreign Affairs. • M. Doladier, Minister, of War. M. Sarrant, Minister of Marine.., M. Dumont, Minister of Finance. \ M. Qneuille, Minister of Agriculture. M. Ricorfi, Minister of Pensions. M. Flaudin, Minister of Commerce. M; Loucheur, Minister of Public Works. M. Pietri, Minister of the Colonies,

The Ministry’s complexion is Radical and Left Centre. It will have the support of the Socialists, but it remains to ba seen what majority it will command in the chamber. The new Prime Minister was a former Rugby International player, aged 45. He is a barrister of agreeable manners, and is regarded ,as a man'of moderate views, but he has been known •to show firmness in the past, M. Tardieu, in declining to enter the Cabinet, declared that events did not permit of his collaboration. This might be interpreted as a disavowal of the. majority whereby his Government had been faithfully defended in international actions at The Hague and London, but he assured Mr Chau temps that he would, support any Government that took the same line as himself at the Naval Conference. THE TARDIEU GOVERNMENT. A YJJEX NARROW DEFEAT, PARIS, February 21. (Received Feb. 21, at 9 p.m.) An official. correction shows that the ■ Tardieu Government was defeated by a majority of only one, not five as previously stated.
