COMPENSATION CLAIM.
HENRYS v. WELLINGTON CORPORATION, JUDGMENT OF THE COURT. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, February 14. The Compensation Court reserved its decision yesterday at the conclusion of evidence in the case in which Joseph Henrys claimed £40,000 compensation for laud taken by proclamation at Quinton's corner, Lampion quay. Mr Justie Blair, in giving judgment to-day, said that the evidence given by the % aluers, who had disregarded the varying depths of the sections fronting on lambton quay in arriving at their prices per foot, had been of little, if any, assistance to the court. The court awarded in full compensation £26,000. As to interest, the question bad been settled between the parties by the Crown agreeing to pay, and Henrys agreeing to accept the rent of £37 per week from the date of the proclamation to date. To . the assessors the court awarded £125 each, ■ both to be paid by the Crown. “I should say, his Honor added, “ that the award is not unanimous.”
