Mr Walter Speight left by the second express yesterday morning to spend a, holiday on the West Coast. Bishop Liston was a passenger by the second express yesterday en route to Auckland. Mr F. F. M'Bryde, Hew Zealand manager of the A.M.P. Society, and Mr E. J. Reed, of the head office staff, left by the second express yesterday on their return to Wellington. Collins, who is touring New Zealand in the interests of Holy Cross College, was a through passenger from Invercargill by the second express yesterday morning en route to Carterton. Mr E. R. Wilson, of Invercargill, has been re-elected president of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, and Mr W. M, Page, of Wellington, chairman of the Executive Committee. The following are the Dunedin delegates to the Methodist Annual Conference, which will be held at Wellington, next week:—-The Revs. H. E. Bellhouse (chairman of the Otago district), A. C. Lawry {St. Kilda), H. Daniel (Caversliam), and R. Richards (Roslyn), with Messrs D. C. Cameron, P. Christie, E. Aslin, J. T. Tresise and G. Crosbie as lay representatives. We regret to state that there is no improvement in the condition of Si'Thomas Mackenzie, and the state of his health is causing grave anxiety to the members of ills family. Mr F. M. Reid, the Otago delegate on the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, is at present in Dunedin. .Mr Reid was formerly an Otago champioh athlete, and a member of the Otago Centre. Mr J. J. Clark returned to Dunedin yesterday afternoon from Wellington, where he has been occupied for the past week with business in connection with the Masonic Grand Lodge. The death of Captain Matthew Irvine at Broadstairs, Kent, a few days ago, is announced by a private cablegram. The deceased was in the mercantile marine in New Zealand many years ago, being in the employ of the Union Steam Ship Company. Captain Irvine brought the s.s, Komata to New Zealand in 1907. During the war he was engaged in taking transports to Mesopotamia and for his good work was awarded the 0.8. E. The deceased married in 1903 Miss Rose Blaney, of Dunedin, daughter of' the late Captain John Blaney. and she survives her husband. There'were no children.
