An Austro-Italian treaty of friendship and conciliation was signed on February 2- Its aim is to consolidate the existing friendly, relations by an agreement to submit to arbitration every difference, and if arbitration proves unsatisfactory the dispute shall be submitted to the International Court at The Hague. A Conciliation Committee will be appointed consisting of one Italian, one Austrian and three neutrals. Article 1 declares that the treaty does not modify the rights and duties of eithei side as members of. the League of Nations, but' differences must first be submitted to arbitration or The Hague Court. The treaty is to last for 10 years, and is also renewable for five years unless it. is denounced by six months’ notice.
