They are never worn now by the woman who has any claim to smartness, for they give a much older look to the lace than spectacles in horn rims Besides which the wearing of pince-nez encourages a permanent frown on the iace and always makes an ugly little mark' on the nose. They also spoil the beauty ol the eyes, which invariably look smaller behind pince-nez than behind a pair of horn rims,. If-your face happens to be round and too plump for beauty let the rims be of a dark shade of horn; if, on the other hand, the face ib too long and too thin, then choose a light-coloured horn frame for your glasses. If it be too big for the bridge of your nose vour glasses will slip continually, which besides being uncomfortable ind bad for the sight, will make them decidedly unbecoming.
