WAIKOUAITI NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIKOUAITI, January 21. The Goodwood Coronation Hall was full to overflowing the other evening when the residents of the district met to bid farewell to, Mr and Mrs John Macaulay and family, who have removed to the Temuka district. The first part of the function took the form of a concert. The concert programme having been completed, Sir John Preston (chairman) spoke in glowing terms of the life and work in the district of Mr and Mrs Macaulay, and called upon Mr W. Lee to make a presentation on behalf of their many friends. Mr Lee mentioned that the family had had a lengthy connection with the district, and spoke of the service rendered by Mr Macaulay in the Sunday school for upwards of 30 years. Mr Lee wished for the Macaulay family all the blessings of life, and, as a token of the esteem and respect in which they were held, handed to Mr Macaulay a substantial cheque. Other speakers were the • Revs. Potts, Luker, and Whittlestone, Messrs John Maxwell, sen., F. Toomey, and A. Y. Park. Mr Macaulay replied in feeling terms. At the conclusion of the presentation the hall was cleared, and a short dance brought the proceedings to a close, CRICKET. The Wuikouniti team travelled to Seacliff on Saturday, and played a match with the local eleven. The game resulted in a win for Waikouaiti bv 5 runs. E.
