TEACHING IN AMERICA.

MR M‘ANDREW VINDICATED,

(United Pres* Association.)

(By Electric ‘ftilegraph—Copyright.) CHICAGO, December 18.

Sustaining a writ .of certiorari, Superior Judge Pam held that the former school superintendent, Mr M‘Andrew, was not guilty of insubordination, and that the “America first” charges were illegally prosecuted before the School Board, which ousted M* Andrew during Mr Thompson’s anti-British activities.

A message received on August 24,1928/ stated: “The Mayor of Chicago, A Big Bill 7 Thompson, apparently has v won hi? battle against British influence, for Mr W. J. Boganti .the new superintendent of schools, has eliminated from school study all of the six histories which Thompson attacked during the trial of the former superintendent, Mr. M‘Andrew. The ground on. which the books have been eliminated are that they are pro-British. The single history which remains avail? able to the v schools Is Gordy’s * History of the United States,’ and that is re? tained with the request that the picture ‘Resplendent Redcoats’ he deleted and replaced by a portrait of George. Washington.”
