Mr Laitsbnry said ho was doing his utmost to extend the usefulness of the parks as playgrounds, without in the slightest degruu spoiling any of their amenities. He was very proud of the fact that rich people had so generously responded to his appeal for funds, and he wished publicly to record his deepest gratitude fo all who had assisted him. His only regret was that none of the parks in East London were under his control.

Althougli his position ns a Minister of the Crown had brought him into contact with many people whoso opinions were not -Socialistic, lie had received nothing but kindness from them all. This was especially so in Northern Ireland, where two weeks ago ho received a real Irish welcome, which touched him very much indeed.
