MAIN BODY MEN.
ANNUAL REUNION. . An opportunity of recalling bygone incidents, of rehearsing old actions, and of bringing back to mind the memories of comrades who had gone befor© was accorded the large gathering of main body men of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force who assembled in the Early Settlers Hall last night. The function, which was the most successful of its kind held in Dunedin, was presided oyer by Lieutenant-Colonel J. H. Moir, with whom were associated Colonel rV i LieutenantColonel J, G. Jeffery, M.C., Captain C. E. Pryce, 0.M.R., Captain E. J. Anderson, A. M'Hutchon, president of tho Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association, Lieutenant-Ccdmicl A. S. Falconer, D. 5.0., M.C., Staff Sergeant-major Johnson, Sergeant D, M. Currie (a Mens veteran), Captain W. Pollard, N.Z.A., Lieutenant W. J. Brown, N.Z.A., Colonel G. T. Hall (Wellington), Major F. H. Lampen, D. 5.0., Sergeant-major Reynoldß, M.M.. Flight-Lieutenant M'Govern, R.A.P., Flight-Lieutenant C. Umbers, R.A.F., Sergeant-major Green, W. 0., and Captain M'Pherson. In the course of his introductory remarks the chairman stated that he was 'ciy pleased to see such a representative gathering of the old brigade present. He also had much pleasure in welcoming Mr M'Hutchon, the president of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association, He tendered apologies from the Governor-General (Sir Charges Ferguason) Colonel Saunders (Wellington), and Colonel Young; whilst Colonel Hardest also tendered his apologies for not being able to attend the reunion. In proposing the first toast the chairman asked those present to remember those who had gone away and who had not back honouring the toast of Fallen Comrades,” the toast being honoured with due reverence. . The following toast list was then continued: “Brothers in Arms,” proposed by Lieutenant Falconer, D. 5.0., and responded to by Major J. T. Jeffery, M.C.; “ Men of Later Reinforcements,” proposed by Colonel G. T. Hall, and responded to by Major J, M'Pherson, 0.8. E.; “New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association,” proposed by Mr A. M'Hutchon, and responded to by Mr E. J. Anderson; “The Chairman,” proposed by Major F. H. Lampen, and responded to by Lieutenant-colonel J. H. Moir.
During the evening items were given by the following:—Messrs T. Harvey, S Jeffs, J. M'Nish, F. Haig, T. Reynolds, H. Guyton, G. Ansell, B. Pinfold, and J. Keenan (songs), Major F. H. Lampen (humorous item). The accompaniments were played by Mr IV. Hargreaves.
