SCHOOL DISCIPLINE.
, to the eunon . . Sib,—One hears much nowadays concerning the discipline • enforced at our Secondary schools, and one _ wonders if such, discipline • has the desired effect. Recently, while passing a group of secondary schoolboys, all in school uniform, 1 noticed that several, not ocV the older hoys, but also the • younger "’boys, were smoking. Rbw this is the sort of thing that goes on and it produces a feeling oi distrust on the part of the public towards the school authorities. Perhaps the effects of matriculation can be coped with by the soothing powers of cigarettes.—:! am, etc.. ■ One of the Public. % Dunedin, December 11.
