(Received Deb. 5, at 0,15 am) Meetings of miners on the northern coalfields in order to di uss the terms of settlement of the coal dispute will be held during the week-end. Their delegates to the recent conference arc strongly urging acceptance of the terms, but there is considerable hostility in some quarters, and an attempt will be made by the militants to have the terms rejected. • There was a significant development today at Lithgow, in the western district, where the miners at a mass meeting unanimously rejected the terms and pledged themselves to fight any kind of wage reduction to the bitter’ end. The position, therefore, is still in- the balance.
