STIMULATION OF INTEREST. . INVITATION TO OVERSEAS BISHOPS. . / ■ (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, December 4. The creation of interest in the work of the Church of England missions is the object which the New Zealand Board of Anglican Missions has in view in negotiating for a visit to the Dominion of two overseas bishops in 1931. For some time past the board has contemplated arranging for such a visit, and invitations have now been despatched •to the Bishop of Western China, Dr H. W. K. Mowel, apd the Bishop of Central Tanganyika, T)r G. A. Chambers. Dr Mowel has been Bishop of Western ■China_ since ■' 1926 and' assistant bishop in the diocese from 1922 to the time of’his appointment os bishop.. He was educated at King’s College, Canterbury, and King's College and Ridley Hall, Cambridge. Prior to his transfer to the ISast, Bishop Mowel was the dean of Wycliffe College, Toronto, where he went as tutor and professor of theology in 1913, Dr Chambers is an Australian and.« product of St. Paul’s College, University of Sydney. From 1902 to 1904 he was curate of St. Clement’s, Mosman, Sydney. In 1904 he became vice-principal of the Moore Theological College, Sydney. He held that appointment until 1911, when he went to Holy Trinity College, Dulwich Hill, as rector. While at Trinity College he also acted as warden of Trinity Grammar School, Sydney. From 1911 to the time of hia appointment in Central Africa in 1927, Dr Chambers was . examining chaplain to the Archbishop of Sydney.
