TRAMWAY BENEFIT CONCERT
The South Dunedin Town Hall was filled to ita utmost capacity last evening when a benefit concert in aid of the wife and family of a deceased tramway servant was given by members of the Dunedin city tramways, assisted. by friends. The programme was considerably more lengthy than was originally intended, ns most of the entertainers were obliged to comply with insistent requests for encores, testifying to the very enjoyable nature of the 1 entertainment provided. At the conclnjdion of the concert, a dance, the proceeds of which were also devoted to the same object ns the entertainment, was con- ■ ducted, the net takings of the two entertainments amounting to approximately fIOO. Items were given by the followling: —Mrs D. Carty, Misses H, Wilson, R. i Baxter, and C. Buchan, Messrs W. G. jHilliker, W. H. MacKenzie, J. Swan, J. ! Paterson, and G. Wiseman, and Master !E. Johnson (songs). Tramways Band (selection), Mr T. Heaney (accordion *olo), Misses E. Agnew and X. Pullar (step dance), Misses Ethel and Joyce Todd (dance duo), Miss J. George (recitation), Mr T. Andrews (xylophone solo),and Mr !F. Parsons (violin solo). The accompaniment* were played by Mr A, .Pettit,
