LOANS FOR AUSTRALIA
NO INCREASE IN PROGRAMME. iHE DECISION COMMENDED. (United Press Association.) . ■ (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) ) LONDON, November 14. (Received Nov. 14, at 10 pan.) The Times, in an editorial, commends the decision of the Australian Loan Council against an increase in the loan programme and remarks on the similarity in the difficulties facing Mr Sculiin and Mr MacDonald, instancing the coal trade depression and unemployment. It alludes to the necessity of Mr Theodore (Federal Treasurer) cutting down expenditure and increasing revenue, and says: “ There is much in Mr Theodore's past, especially in handling the finances of Queensland, which may well cause anxiety, but he is abig man and an able man, and it would not be a surprise to see him profit from past experiences.” The Times expresses the opinion that the most urgent need in connection with the industrial problem is to restore respect for law, aiid it concludes by assuring Mr Sculiin that his efforts towards the promotion of the general good of the Commonwealth of British nations will receive the sympathetic understanding for which he asked when he broadcast his speech after the formation of his Cabinet.
