BLUFF-MELBOURNE SERVICE.

COST TO THE GOVERNMENT.

(From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, November 7.

Information aa to the cost to the Government of the Bluff-Melboumc steamer service, which is on the point of inauguration, is given in the Supplementary Estimates introduced in the House of Representatives to-day. In the Post Office account vote is shown the sum of £15,000 for the conveyance of ocean mails in the New Zealand-Aus tralian service for five months. This is a reference to the now service, and shows that the annual subsidy will amount to £30,000. For the balance of the present finacial year at any rate the amount is to borne solely by the Post Office account.
