ROXBURGH NOTES.
(From Ot'it Own Correspondent.) ROXBURGH, November 7. THE WEATHER. Heavy rain set in again oh Wednesday ■ evening, and continued until after ; i 7. falling. This makes 137 points since Sunday, and has riven the ground a thorough soaking. The barometer has risen .20jn since yesterday, and the weather has a more settled appearance.
TEVIOT POWER BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Teviot Power Board was Keld on Wednesday \lT g ‘r r P ’ lcl . lelle Prided, anil Messrs Kmastou, Wa.gth, George, and Macdonald were present. The engineer (Mr Brown) submitted a lengthy report on ■ his inspection. of. the. system, which ho found in mst-class order. He recommended the purchase of suitable apparatus for testing rhe loads on distribution transformers, and the board decided that the necessary instruments be placed on order Mr Brown also reported that he would’shortlv be making a full ■ investigation of the additional sources of power inspected during his last visit. The foreman reporte'd that the wiring staff had been busy during the month. There were six house installations and extensions, and in addition eight ranges, five water beaters, and four motors had been installed. The highest load in the station since the last report had occurred on November 4 at 11.45 a.m. when 48G k.w. was recorded.
It was resolved to borrow by way of overdraft- under the Finance Act up to £2300. The chairman explained that this was necessary owing to the large amount of capital expenditure which had been paid out of revenue.
The residents of Island Block extended an-invitation to the board-and- staff to attend a special function to celebrate the turning on of the power in that district. Jt was decided that the chairman and Messrs Rtach and Macdonald represent ♦he board.
