HOCKEY.
MEN’S ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the committee of the . e;y . Association was held in the YJLC.A. last night, there being present Messrs H. F. Payton (chairman), W. r I e w’ H - Sew Hoy, O. Dev, t , Wa , lle ?> }Y- M Queen, G. Cuming, L. Ireland. J. Harris, and W. Picard. Mr Payton or Hr Hewitt was ap* pointed referee for the secondary school match on Saturday. The following team was announced as having been selected to represent Otago against Canterbury, at Christchurch, on August 31:—Goal, R. Twose; backs—R. Hanning, Les Ireland; halves—E. Jory, B. Morris, J. Campbell; forwards—L. Smith, L. Silver, E. Rennick, N. Edson, L. Sonnets; emergencies—Holden and Gurr. h "’as decided that any unfinancial members be not allowed to participate in any representative matches, but that they be given an opportunity to become financial members. The following players were chosen to represent the Otago secondary schools against Canterbury on Saturday:—Reid, Foster, Angell, Pickard, Harrington, Walker, Grey, Betting, Grant. Hanning (captain). Chirnside; emergencies—Harriett, Vietch, Love. It was decided to postpone the Third Grade fixtures for Saturday on account of the representative matches. The Second Grade trial match would be held on the Oval after the ordinary games. It was decided to close the senior competition. and the Albany Club was congratulated on its winning the senior championship. The training practice was arranged for the representative team on the ladies’ No. I ground, at 3 p.m„ on Saturday. The following table indicates the positions of the various teams in the different competitions:— SENIOR.
The following is the draw for Saturday:— Second Grade. —Albany v. Technical Old Boys, Oval No. 2, 3 p.m. (Mr W. M'Queen); University Cv. H. 5.0.8. Colts. Oval No. 2, 1.30 p.m. (Mr G. Cummings); University D v. University E, Oval No. 3, 1.30 p.m. (Mr E. Jory); Training College v. H. 5.0.8. Toas, Oval No. 3, 3 p.m (Mr G. Silver). High School, a bye. Representative Fixtures.—Otago Primary Schools v. Canterbury Primary Schools, for Hatch Cup, Oval No. 1, 3 p.m.; Otago Secondary Schools v. Canterbury Secondary Schools, ladies’ ground. Oval No. 1. 1.30 p.m. PRIMARY SCHOOL BOYS. The following matches will be played to-day at the Oval:—High Street v. Normal, Albany v. Forbury, Caversham v. Moray Place. A trial match will follow the games.
