SPIRITUAL HEALING.
TO THE EDITOR. Sxk, —I have read the letters of Mr I. L. Richards and “ Christian Student ” m this morning’s Daily Times on the subject of spiritual healing. I have no desire to criticise what they say, but would here state that 1 believe ijie scriptural teaching on Divine or spiritual healing, that Christ healed all manner of sickness and disease among .the people, including blindness and mental disease, and the cures were complete and instantaneous. His desciples also healed those who were not called upon to exercise their faith, but faith was necessary on the desciples’ part, and in sotne cases prayer and fasting. _ Thefr healing, tod, wafc complete and instantaneous. But were these powers manifested then? and to what age did they belong and point to? Would it be presumption on my part to ask your correspondents if they ate sure they do not err, not knowing the Scriptures? But, Sir, ff your correspondents have faith in the power of their church and ministry to heal all kinds Of sickness and disease, I shall be most happy- to’ give them the opportunity, and be most thankful should they succeed, I have a member of my family, who a few years ago was stricken down with an illness, that has left him quite unable to conduct any business. His complaint and condition have baffled many medical men who apparently cannot cure. Now, Sir, I shall be most happy to make a thankoffering of £IOO to the church represented by either of your correspondents, to be used in their work for God and humanity, if by their faith they will heal my son, and with your- permission, Mr Editor, I will place the money in your hand to be given to the church that effects a healing. The only condition I make is that my son shall first he examined by three medical men and two business men” and that he shall then submit himself to the one church or the two churches during one week; then after the elapse of three more weeks, he shall be again examined by the same gentlemen, and if they pronounce that he is cured and able to resume his business, you, Sir, may pay over the thankoffering to the healing church.—l am, etc.. Anxious. Dunedin, August 16,
