Thomson was prominent in checking MosgieTs right wing, and Faithful with another piece of bright play, gave Warnoek chance, hut the centre again missed. Northern's half line was displaying smart

tackling, and play was mostly confined to Mosgicl’s area for a time. M'Dougall and M'Cloy, however, defended well. A miskick by Trevathan gave M'Dougall trouble in clearing, the goalie nipping the ball from Warnock s toe, and the ball going over for a goal kick. R. Skinner received and sent well down to M'Dowall. who raced towards goal. Coatee tackled him, and Mosgiel was awarded a penalty kick for a trip. Stevens gave M'Qnarrio no chance with a fine drive to the corner of the net, making the scores one all. A promising attack opened up by Stevens for Mosgiel, who was playing a great game, was held up for a doubtful off side. White was showing good play, and receiving a clearance from M'Dougall, sent M'Dowall away on the right, a corner resulting without advantage. Just on half time Northern attacked with determination. and although faulty clearances by the Mosgiel rearguard gave the former opportunities, M'Dougall was equal to all attempts to goal, and the spell ended with honours even. On resuming, play moved from end to end, both sides showing poor direction in their shooting. Mosgiel players nullified their efforts on attack through waiting on the ball, and the Northern defence was cutting in on the passes. Stevens made a timely save in front of goal, but Baird and M'Hugh returned play, to find Stevens again in position, and the hall was sent to Northern’s goal, where M'Dowall, with a good chance, shot outside. Sutherland, Northern’s left-half, received a kick on the head, and was carried off, but returned within a few minutes. Following a corner to Northern, which was without advantage, C. Skinner made pretty play and opened well out to M'Dowall, when another doubtful offside relieved a serious position for Northern as both backs were on the other side of the field. Up and down play continued, with Mosgiel doing better. M'Dowall, with a good cross from Hardin's pass, saw Middleman head over. Trevathan, at the other end, gave away a corner to save from Warnock, the kick across being neatly punched out by MDougall. From a throw-in Haulm received, and beating a couple of opponents with clever ball control, sent m a great shot which M'Quarrie did well ?“V\ Northern now made play lively, Faithful whipping the ball smartly to goal, where M'Dougall saved Warnock’s sliot.
