The official list shows that among the Devonshire’s casualties were one officer and seven of other ranks of the Royal Marines killed or died of wounds, and* 13 marines and naval ratings injured. The officer killed is Captain John Bath. The Devonshire has steamed for Malta, where an official inquiry will lie opened to-day. The Devonshire is one of the most up-to-date cruisers in commission, having been launched as recently as October, 1927, and commissioned in March, 1929. On a standard displacement of 10,000 tons she mounts eight Sin guns, four 3m anti-aircraft guns-, and four threepounders, and two two-pounder pompoms. . . ;
