GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. report as under:— Oats.—This market is attra-cting very little interest. Farmers have, from the beginning of the season, obtained higher prices than the ruling f.0.b,, s.i., rates. Millers and seed requirements having absorbed all the heavy lines offering, merchants have secured practically nothing at all, thus showing how the consumptive demand, apart from milling, has fallen away, Nominal values remain the same, viz.: 3s Id lor extra heavy grade, ordinary A 3s ( B grade 2s‘ 9d, sacks extra, on truck, country stations. Wheat.—Local millers are not keen operators at present, consequently the wheat market is quiet. There appears to be ample stock to carry through to the next harvest. Fowl wheat is in plentiful supply. Nominal values to-day are:—Tuscan 5s 9d, Hunters 6s, Velvet 6s 6d, sacks extra, on truck, country stations.

Chaff—Although the market shows signs of increased values, the demand has not improved to any extent. Consumers are apparently content to buy j'ust as their stocks become exhausted, Canterbury chaff has firmed, and offerings from thkt quarter are not as frequent as usual. Best oaten sheaf is procurable ex store, Dunedin, at £5 15s to £6/ sacks extra.

Potatoes.—'Jhis market is practically controlled by’Canterbury offerings. One week a decided firming is noticed. A few trucks arriving, however, soon puts the position back to normal again. Canterbury are quoting £5 15s, f.0.b., s.i., for this month’s delivery, and this is the value ex truck, Dunedin, to-day for best tables. Other lines are hard to quit.
