“FIGHT FOR THE ASHES”
BOOK BY M. A. NOBLE. BOARD 6f CONTROL CRITICISED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON. June 13. (Received June 14, at 1.30 a.m.) Biting criticism of the Board of Control is the outstanding, feature of M. A. Noble’s book, “ The Fight for the Ashes.” “ Unless the powers that be show more imagination than they havip in recent years, I cannot see a _ prospect of escaping the pit into which we have drifted through sheer pigheadedness. We have neglected opportunities to encourage youth, and the result is that we sye weak in all departments of the game. We muddled through badly, but we have been up against a stone wall in a board as barren of perspicacity as it is incapable of fostering the interests of the game. Men of experience have never been consulted, and they might be pirates, burglars, or bushrangers for all the authorities care.”
Noble expresses the opinion that the last eleven, with the addition of colts, including a couple of spin bowlers, if they are discoverable, will make a good fight in 1930—Australian Press Association —United Service.
