In the amateur championship, second round, Major Thornbury defeated Campbell (New Zealand) 5 up and 4 to play. —Australian Press Association. PRINCE WATCHES THE PLAY. LONDON, June 13.
(Received June 13, at 8 p.m.) The Prince of Wales watched the play in the amateur golf championship at Sandwich. He accompanied Tolley’s match for a few holes, and then two American players. He was most interested in Joshua Crane’s toothpick putter. Earlier' he played a few, holes on the adjoining Prince’s course, and later in the afternoon he partnered Wcthored in a foursome.
An outstanding feature of the championship was Perkins being taken to the twenty-second hole by a little-knowg youth. Wethe.red, Torrance, and Stout have all been beaten, while John Dawson, from Chicago, is still winning.—Australian Press Association.
