The Shaw, Savlll steamer Matakana, which la completing her loading at Wellington, Is to leave the northern port to-morrow for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, via Montevideo and Tenerlffc. The liner Corlnthlc was to leave Wellington yesterday for Auckland to put out the remainder of her cargo from London. The departure of the Government motor ship Maul Pomare for Norfolk-Island has been further postponed to June 21. The vessel is under overhaul at Auckland. The Trellsslck Is expected to arrive at Lyttelton to-day from Auckland to discharge a part cargo of phosphate from Ocean Island. The Union Company has received cabled advice that the tanker *Brltlsh Glory left San Pedro on June 6 for Wellington. The vessel Is bringing a cargo of fuel-oil for discharge Into the company’s tanks at Miramar, and Is due at Wellington on July 2. The steamer Flowcrgate arrived at Auckland from Nauru Island last week to unload her cargoof 7230 tons of phosphates. After leaving Nauru on Slay 27 the vessel experienced strong head winds and rough seas. During the boisterous conditions the decks were repeatedly flooded, and minor damage was done to the deck fittings. - VALACIA BERTHED. The Cunard Line steamer Valacla, which arrived at Port Chalmers on Wednesday evening from London, via Lyttelton, came to Dunedin yesterday morning. She was berthed at the Victoria wharf, where the local portion of her Home cargo is being discharged. The Valacla is to sail on Sunday for Bluff and Tlmaru to complete discharge. PLUMB FROM BAN FRANCISCO. The Vacuum Oil Company’s tanker Plume Is expected at Dunedin on Sunday from San Francisco, via northern ports, to discharge bulk motor spirit Into the company’s tanks near the Victoria wharf. THE CANADIAN TRANSPORTER. The Canadian Transporter left Auckland on Wednesday evening for Wellington, Lyttelton, Tlmaru and Dunedin. to discharge the remainder of her general cargo from Halifax and load products for the return voyage. The vessel Is due at this port on June 21. NAVIGATION WARNING. (Per United'Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 14. The acting secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department has received the following ■advice by radio from Sydney:—"Warden headlight not flashing correctly." PORT DUNEDIN FROM LIVERPOOL. Cable advice received states that the C. and D. Line's motor ship Port Dunedin, en route from ’Liverpool to Auckland. Wellington, Wellington, Lytelton and Dunedin, arrived at Colon on June 10. The vessel Is duo at Auckland about July 4. NORTHUMBERLAND LEAVES LIVERPOOL. Cable advice received by the Federal Line states that the Northumberland left Liverpool on June 9 with general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and New Plymouth. The vessel Is due at Auckland about July 17, and at this port about August 3.

In Glasgow, of the British Corporation Register of Shipping and Aircraft, tho chairman of the technical committee, Mr Maurice E. Denny, mentioned as one of the notable ships built In 1928 the Clan liner Clan Macdougall. He said this vessel, which is equipped with Diesel engines Is 450 feet In length, and Is specially designed so that as well as being an efficient general cargo carrier, she la able to carry a large number of locomotives. It Is stated that this Is the only British ship so equipped which has not been specially built and Intended only for this service. The main hold Is over 100 feet long, and has only one pillar on each side at the middle of the length of tho hold. Shipbuilders will appreciate that an arrangement which permits of the, carriage of complete locomotives in holds and on deck Is somewhat remarkable. The ship Is also provided with cargo gear capable of handling 100-ton locomotives. O • PERSONAL ITEMS.’ Captain R. P. Roberta Is In command of the Canadian Transporter, which Is due at lington to-day from Halifax and Auckland. The tanker Plume, which arrived at Wellington on Wednesday from San Francisco, via Auckland, is commanded by Captain F. Ramsay. The Maunganut, which enters the San Francisco service at Sydney this week Is In command. of Captain W. Martin. His deck officers are: —Chief, Mr N. J. Slepen ; second, Mr W. A. Todd; third, Mr D. A. Menlove: fourth Mr G. H. Edwards. The Walkoualti, which was recommissioned at Port Chalmers on Tuesday, is In command of Captain J. G. Watson. His deck officers are:—Chief, Mr C, H. M. Long; second, Mr R. H. C, Hargraves; third, Mr H. J. M. Kemp. Captain E. R. Lowe has been appointed to command the Kanna. Mr D. R. M'Phall has relieved Mr H. M. Hughes, third officer of the Poolta, for holiday. Mr T A. Mack has Joined the Kaimanawa as second officer. KENT ARRIVES PROM LIVERPOOL. The Federal Line steamer Kent arrived at this port yesterday morning from West Coast ports of Great Britain, via Curacao, Colon Panama, Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She was berthed at Port Chalmers to load wool, and will come to Dunedin this morning to discharge the local portion of her Home cargo. The Kent left Liverpool on April ID and after calling at Curacao to replenish her oil fuel bunkers she reached Colon on April 29 and cleared Balboa the same day. Very stormy weather, with westerly gales and high head seas, waa v encountered during the first week of the voyage and caused the vessel to labour heavily and ship a considerable amount of water on deck. One heavy sea broke on hoard and injured two seamen, who were severely bruised nnu had to go off duty for about two weeks. After the storm area was passed the weather was generally fair during tho remainder of the voyage to Auckland, where the steamer •arrived on May 22. Captain E. R. Kemp is in command and the following are the officers: —Chief, Mr W. Wilson; second, air J. R. Ricketts; third, Mr J. Marks; fourth, Mr A. G. Robinson; chief engineer, Mr H. Cutler: second, ilr J. The Kent will salt about June 20 for New Plymouth, where the remainder of Iter freight will be discharged and products loaded for England. Her other loading ports are Wanganui, Wellington. Napier. Gisborne and Auckland.

TASMANIA REPORTED. Cable advice received states that the Tasmania, en route from Auckland to Boston, Halifax, Liverpool, and Glasgow, left New York on June 7, PORT AUCKLAND FROM NEW YORK. With a cargo of basic slag, rolls of newsprint, oil, and general cargo, th© Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Auckland arrived at Dunedin yesterday morning from Antwerp, Portland (Maine), and New York, via Colon, Panama, Auckland, Napier, Wellington and Lyttelton. She was berthed at the wharf to discharge. After loading 3100 tons of basic slag at Antwerp, the Port Auckland proceeded to Portland,' where she loaded 1500 tons of rolls of Canadian newsPrint. From Portland she proceeded to New York, where she completed loading with case oil, motor cars and general merchandise. She sailed from New York on April 22 and cleared Panama on April 30. Generally fair weather prevailed throughout the voyage. While the Port Auckland was In England she was fitted with a steam turbine to assist the vessel's triple expansion engines. Waste steam from the engines now utilised to drive the steam turbine. The additional engine did not increase the vessel’s speed to much extent, owing to the vessel being deeply loaded, but the coal consumption on the voyage was about 1& per cent, less than on former voyages. She will proceed thence to Bluff, Tiraaru, Lyt•ll Wellington to complete loading, and will sail Anally from tHe last-named port about July 3 for London, Avonraoufh, Liverpool, and Glasgow, via Montevideo.
