DUNEDIN FANCIERS.

CUB'S ANNUAL SHOW. RECORD ENTRIES FORWARD. HIGH STANDARD OF EXHIBITS. From the point of entries and quality of the exhibits, the Dunedin Fanciers’ Club’s annual show, which was opened in Brydone Hall yesterday, is easily the most successful held by the club since Exhibition year. Entries this year total approximately 1400—an increase of 300 over last year’s figures, which is partially due to the fact that the pigeon section alone shows an increase of 200 entries over those of 1928. The children’s pets’ section is also an exceptionally good one, and in it the entries easily constitute a record The dog, poultry, and canary sections are well ■up to previous years, and in the lastnamed section particularly the quality of the exhibits is a noteworthy feature. POULTRY. According the judges, the poultry was disappointing in some classes, although in others the quality was particu Jarly good. The first prize-winning Langn' cockere l was a good bird, but tht Wyandottes were only fair. Although the entry in the Rhode Island Red class was xt l • ,* be ualit y was good. Mr J A Morris’s prize-winning cock and pullet being exceptionally fine birds. The Old English game class was only fair. Corapetition for the South Island Champion, ship in Hamburgs was keen, and the win-gold-pencilled pullet was of outstand" mg quality. _ In the bantams the rosecombed variety birds were worthy nf special notice, and the only entry in the modern game class was an especially good bird. Some very fair Sebrights were Shown, and the buff Pekins were good. RABBITS. . Commenting on the Angora rabbits, the judge stated that the class as a whole was good, and brought forward some beasts of good shape,-and density, lustre, and staple of wool. The Chinchillas were not bo good as the Angoras either in quality e . n tries, the reason being that this breed is not so popular as the Angora. FANCY PIGEONS.

The fancy pigeon section was an excellent one. both as regards quality and numbers, and was a decided improvement on last years show. All the birds were in lirst-class condition. HOMER PIGEONS.

The judge said that the homer pigeon . al l r°, und - very good the exhibits maintaining the standard of pre10H8...year8 ‘ Fhe exhibits were in good condition and the entries showed an in-
