REMANDED. Francis . Joseph Gantley, who was charged With unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl over 12 years and under 16 years, on or about October 18, 1928, was’ remanded until June 21. Bail as fixed at one recognisance of £IOO and one surety of £IOO, or two of £SO, the accused to report to the police daily. IDLE AND DISORDERLY. A young girl, who had *been remanded for medical treatment, appeared on a charge of being idle and disorderly and of having no lawful visible means of support.—Sub-inspector Cummings stated that the "irl’s mother had died some three years ago. after which she went to her grandmother. She got into touch with a man and went touring round the country in sideshows and later met another _man in Dunedin. The hospital authorities reported that she re qmred further treatment. The defendant said that she would like to go to an institution where she would be looked after.-—The defendant was ordered to be placed in the Borstal Institution for two years, but no conviction was entered.
