: . _ LONDON, May 3. A White. Paper gives.the-names of the financial , supporters of Major Tiillbch r and Mr Novomeysky, to whom, as already ' stated in Parliament, has been granted the concession for-the extraction of salts from the Dead. Sea. These are: - Messrs Basil Montgomery-and Company, ■■ London; Messrs C. Tennant, Sons, and Company, Limited,' London ;■ Messrs Pauling and Company, Limited, London; Mr Leslie Urquhart; chairman of the RussoAsiatic Consolidated Company,; Limited, London; The Jewish ' Colonial Trust, ' Limited* London; The. Palestine Economic « Corporation, New York. * ‘‘ It is .understood/’ the White Papersdds, “that the Earl of ’Ej-tton will be the. chairman-of l the company- that will be formed to the concession, and that directors of sonie of; the firms mentioned above will be. on the board of directors of -that company. ’ , It is also understood that it is the '' intention of- Major Tulloch and Mr' Novomeysky, in agreement with their ' financial supporters, that the articles of association of the company should contain a provision to _ the 1 effect that the chairman of. the company should be ,a British subject,- and that British ; subDCcts, or British, subjects and Palestinian •citizens together, . should form the majority of the board of directoi-s of the ’ company,” v - ■ LORD LYTTON.
Mr Orrasby-Gqrc (Under-secretary for the Colonies) stated in the House of Commons on April 22 that:the draft: concession haM been accepted by the Government of Palestine’ and the Arab Government .of Transjordan'ia. ' The “Earl of Plymouth: (Under-secretary. for- the Dominions) stated in the House of Lords that the Government were satisfied with the financial backing of the scheme.' The Earl-of Ljdtqn is .‘a grandson of Lord Lytton, , ; the famous .novelist,. and a eon •of the first Earl, who was Viceroy °l _ India. _He . was . born at Simla- in 1876, and his official connection with India began in -1920, when he' was appointed Under-secretary of. State for that department; . He also . became, chairman of the committee on ; ludian Students - in Britain. From- 1922 to 1927 he- was Governor, ot Bengal, and during the Marquis ‘Of ■ Reading’s -absence in 1925 ha acted as Viceroy. .
