N.S. WALES COAL MINERS.
EMISSARIES IN DOMINION. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROMISED. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON. May 7. Messrs J. M. Baddeley and H. Knight, visiting emissaries for the idle coal mine workers of the Northern District of New bonth Wa.es, to-day addressed meetings ot the Wellington Waterside Workers' *o.“’ Seamen’s Union, the Council ot the Post and Telegraph Association, and_ the Council of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. The visitors explained the position of the coal miners, and at the end of their addresses resolutions were unanimously adopted to render financial assistance. The Seamen’s Union agreed to donate by way of a levy one day s wages monthly, which would yield not less than £IOOO monthly. Tho water* side workers also agreed to levy themselves every pay day while the struggle continues. In the case of the other two organisations it was stated that they regarded the case that had been presented as a very just one, and would recommend their members to render financial assistance.
