Sanderson left for Christchurch by the midday express yesterday to attend the annual meeting of the Eclipse Petrol Economiser Company. / Mr A. Marshall has been appointed to the position of supervisor of the Chief Post Office garage at Dunedin. The Rev. P. B. Fraser has left for Auckland \to take part in , the anti-evolu-tion campaign which is to be opened there. In the Supreme Court yesterday morning Mr Justice Smith granted applications by Robert Graeme M'Naughton and Jack Tolendal Armstrong for admissioh as barristers and solicitors. The applications were supported by Mr W. L. Moore and Mr R. L. Fairmaid respectively. An appliuation by Ralph Frederick Wilson for admission as a solicitor was also granted. This application was supported by Mr J. C. Stephens. * Archbishop Cattaneo, the Papal delegate to Australia and New Zealand, arrived at Auckland by the Aorangi yesterday (says a Press Association telegram). He has been in Australia for some time, and his visit to New Zealand is purely of a private nature. Dr Rosa Collier, who has been school medical officer in Southland for the past eight years, left Invercargill by, the night express on Sunday for Napier, where she is taking up her duties as school medical officer in charge of the Hawke’s Bay district. , ' A pleasant evening was spent in .the Maungatua Dairy Factory recently, when the chairman of directors (Mr W. G. M‘Kay) was entertained by his fellowdirectors and suppliers to mark the occasion, of his approaching marriage. ' Mr James Wither, who referred to the many good qualities of Mr M’Kay, presented him . with a solid leather suit case, wishing him future happiness and prosperity. Messrs Heenan, Kinnaird, and Lyall also spoke. Mr M'Kny suitably replied. . At the conclusion of the meeting of the Real Estate Institute of Otago yesterday afternoon Mr A. F. QuelCh said that Mr L.- D.’ Ritchie, who had, just been elected for the' eleventh year as their president, had done a vast amount of work in the interests of the institute. • Only members of the executive, indeed, knew how much Mr Ritchie had done for them.—(Applause.) Mr Quelch then asked Mi Ritchie to accept the gift of a Mosgiel rug as a small tangible recognition of his work. Mr Ritchie, in returning thanks, said he deeply appreciated the spirit which had prompted the gift. The resignation' of Dr Riley, ‘ Anglican archibishop of Perth and Metropolitan of ’the- province : of Western .Australia, .will take effect as from July 31, Dr Riley, now 75 years of age, was appointed bishop of Perth in 1894, and arshbishop 20 years later. Bofn in Birmingham (England) in 1854," the son of a clergyman, he was ordained a priest in 1879, and 15 years later was elected bishop of Perth, his see being the whole of Western Australia, and therefore one of the largest in the Empire. After, the outbreak of the war he was appointed chaplain-general to the Australian military forces, and with them saw 18 months’ service at the front..
