TOO MUCH LIQUOR.
A STOREMAN AND HIS CAE. (Peb United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 6. In the Police Court to-day, Leslie Roy Plummer, aged 24, a storeman, was charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor ear in Elliot street on Saturday night. Sub-inspector M’Carthy said that Plummer had been attending a reunion of engineers on Saturday,'and had taken more liquor than was good for him. He left the rooms where the function was being held, and went to his car to have a sleep. The Magistrate (Mr F. K. Hunt. S.M.J: Where else could he go except to his car, which was his own property? Sub-inspector M’Carthy: He might have awakened and attempted to drive away. Counsel for the accused said that Plummer had no intention of driving away. He had done the best thing by going to his car in a quiet street and sleeping off the effects of the liquor. Plummer was a respectable man, and had never been in trouble before. "Ho has been punished enough, and will be convicted and discharged,” said’ the magistrate.
