HUGE CLAIM BY NATIVES. *{ ( Per United. Press Association.), NAPIER, May 6. Hearing. has concluded in the Maori Land Court at Hastings before Chief Judge Jones and Judge M'Cormack of Natives’ claims concerning the Aorangi block. Nine years ago a Royal Commission decided' Hhat the Natives of Central Hawke’s Bay had been wrongly dispossessed of an area of 7200 acres, which was sold in the ’sixties by the Crown to Mr Sydney Johnstone. A special Statute gave power to the Native Land Court to take evidence and recommend what would be adequate compensation for the period, approximately 65 years. Tlie Maoris submitted a claim for £240,000, which the Crown representative before the court, opposed. The judges reserved their decision. , '
